Hospital medication waste refers to unused drugs that expire over the entire medicine supply chain.1 This waste results in unnecessary healthcare spending and environmental harm. Generally, there is a medication waste issue in developed countries such as the Netherlands, as reported by van den Bemt et al.2 This commentary is derived from this work and focuses on oral anticancer medication waste in China.
Because China is a developing country with a large population and vast territory, its medical resources are limited. China has a serious drug shortage problem and there should be no medication waste. Paradoxically, medication waste is a common phenomenon in China. At the end …
